			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>PHP Designer 2007, just released this week, is the newest iteration of MPSoftware&#8217;s PHP Designer series. Long touted as one of the best free PHP editors around, PHP Designer&#8217;s new version brings with it a new licensing structure: There is the free Personal version (which can&#8217;t be used for commercial work) and the more robust Professional version, which is now priced at €55/$69 USD. While PHP Designer 2007 Professional is primarily aimed at PHP programmers, the editor certainly holds its own in the HTML editor arena. Is it worth the new price? I guess that depends on the type of coding you do.</p>

In fact, because we tend to judge software on its ability to help us get our work done more quickly or easily, it&#8217;s essential for the software to put its best foot forward, so to speak. Many developers don&#8217;t seem to understand this and, as a result, don&#8217;t properly show off the features that make their software stand out &#8212; much to the detriment of themselves and their potential users. The sites always ended up looking ok, but the code they were built upon was a mess. It has now been a while since I graduated into hand-coding sites and using (X)HTML/CSS to lay them out. It&#8217;s also been a while since I used Dreamweaver for any of my projects; recently, however, I renewed my acquaintance with Adobe&#8217;s (neé Macromedia&#8217;s) flagship website creator (on PC) in order to work with a client who only uses Dreamweaver (and Design View at that) to manage her template-based website.</p>
